As publishing has diversified into various routes, with traditional and self-publishing being the more common ones, we have seen the different treatment each of these book receive. At this day and age, traditionally published authors earn more respect than their self-published counter parts. Subsequently, this can be seen primarily in which books are eligible for winning awards, such as the Pulitzer Prize, as only traditionally published books can enter. Nevertheless, in recent years, people are pushing for consideration of novels that have been self-published, yet I am curious to hear what you have to say about this movement for equal treatment of books published through these two routes.

In my opinion, again this is just my thoughts. I believe both should get an award. Whether they are self publishing or traditionally publishing ever book should get an award if it is good. It shoudn't matter whether someone published it their selves or not. All that should matter is whether it is a good story as a whole.
